This scene is set in the Palace at Forres. Lennox and a Lord are talking. Lennox starts off talking about how bad things have been in Scotland recently: Duncan assassination by his sons planning, Fleance murdering Banquo, and then wonders where Macduff is, being rude by not attending Macbeths party! The Lord responds by saying Macduff, Malcolm and Donabain have gone to England and are allying with Northumberland and Siward (presumably English lords?) to challange Macbeth for the throne. He also says how he wish’s for Scotland to return back to normal from the horrible state it is in when he says “Give to our tables meat, sleep to our nights, Free from our feasts and banquets bloody knives,” Lennox then prays God will help Malcolm and Donalbain win, because Macbeth, and Scotland are quickly deteriorating. The Lord agrees to that also.
In this scene, a reason Lennox is so anti-Macbeth is because I think he suspects Macbeth of King Duncans murder, and is subtly revealing it to the people around him, and to the audience.
