This Act is bringing the play to a dramatic end, and the pace and action increases.
Scene 1 is in the castle with the doctor trying to cure Lady Macbeths sleepwalking, when Lady Macbeth starts talking about murdering Duncan and Banquo, terrifying the doctor and gentlewoman.
Scene 2 is outside Dunstinaine hill, and is Macbeths captins talking amongst themselves. They are considering the enemy and the “tryant” Macbeth who is leading them, and that none of them are here out of choice or are willing to fight for him. The result is that they switch to the English side of the battle. They say that Macbeths “title hang loose about him, like a giants robe Upon a dwarvish theif.”
Scene 3 is in the castle, with Macbeth boasting his invincibility and fearlessness when a servant reports the news that 10,000 English soldiers are approaching. After abusing him for being scared, he sends him off and talks about how he does not have the things he expected for someone his age, but will not try get them.
Scene 4 : Outside the castle near the woods the English troops are told to gather branchs to disguise their numbers as they approach the castle.
Scene 5 (next scene summary…..: Macbeth calls in his second in command (happens to be called Sayton…) and just then there is a scream….. Seyton rush’s off to investigate while Macbeth reflects on how he is so accustomed to horrible sights, deeds and noises the screams don’t even scare him anymore, then Seyton returns with news that Lady Macbeth has just committed suicide!
