NCEA English Paragraphs.

For our english journalism project our group chose the topic of -Is NCEA level 1 useless?-   Our group sent out a survey, researched online and interviewed some teachers to gather information on this topic.
The results of our survey were interesting because only a third of year 12-13s that responded said they thought NCEA level 1 would help them to get jobs in their future, and 48% thought it put unnecessary stress on the students. However, 81% thought it prepared them for levels 2 and 3 because it taught them time management and study habits. From these results we concluded that most students thought NCEA level 1 was good to do, and 48% thought it was too stressful, so keeping NCEA level 1 and reducing the amount of tests would be a good idea.

We interviewed Mr Waugh and Mr Bosley to get their opinions. They both thought that there were too many tests at NCEA level 1 and that year 11 should focus more on actually learning stuff, rather than spending lots of time on exams. This confirmed some of the opinions from the survey and also some of our internet results.

To conclude, I think that the amount of tests in NCEA level 1 should be reduced so that their is more time for learning, but it is also important to keep it so that students get experience in exams.
